IronMatik Ironing Board Review

Pressing is part of every quilter’s process, but the tools we use make a huge difference in how enjoyable to process can be. Local to me here in Atlanta and also woman-owned IronMatik set out to make the most helpful and innovative ironing board possible. IronMatik’s thoughtful design resulted in a valuable addition to any sewing room.

I had no idea I needed an ironing board. For years, I’ve used a cloth and batting covered pressing board (still a fabulous option for folks with limited space). When Victoria gifted me one of her company’s ironing boards, I was unsure. I liked having an ironing space that was separate from my cutting table, but would it be stable enough? Big enough? Really worth the investment? As the months have gone by, I’ve become more and more excited about the thoughtful features of IronMatik’s innovative ironing boards. If you’re looking for such an addition to your sewing room, you’ll love their whole collection!

Disclaimer: My IronMatik Space Maker ironing board was a gift from the company early in 2024. In keeping with my general policy about reviews, I have used this product for months before writing a review so that I can really understand it and offer you as unbiased an opinion as possible.

The Specs

The IronMatik Space Maker ironing board includes everything you need to uplevel your pressing experience:

  • Large (16.5 x 49 inch) pressing surface

  • Two covers

  • Iron and accessory caddy (perfect for resting your iron while you adjust fabric, but also for holding your starch, pressing spray, clapper, water, etc – even your phone!)

  • Hook and hardware to hang the ironing board when not in use

  • Wheels for easy set up and fold down

What I Love

My favorite thing about IronMatik’s ironing boards is that they are clearly designed by someone who uses an iron.

First, the iron and accessory caddy reduces anxiety about bumping into the edge of a hot iron while positioning fabric or about knocking my other tools to the floor. There’s even a handy hook for wrapping the cord around when the iron is unplugged so it’s not drooping on the floor.

Second, the base of the ironing board is wide so that it is stable to work on and doesn’t feel like it may tip at any moment. Even better, the feet can rotate to level the surface in case the floor is a little uneven. No more wobbly ironing!

Finally, the surface is large enough to make ironing easy without taking up an inconvenient foot print in the sewing room. And if your space is small, and you want to pack the IronMatik up? It folds down quietly, without sounding like a witch being boiled in oil, and hangs on the provided hook.

What About the Price?

IronMatik Ironing Boards are an investment in your sewing room (prices range from $149-$321 USD). In addition to providing you with a superior pressing experience, your purchase also abides by high standard labor laws during production in Europe and supports a woman owned business. Plus, it will absolutely be the best designed ironing board you’ve ever owned

Final Thoughts

If you’re putting together a stunning sewing room to bring you joy and make even the less thrilling (pressing) parts of the process enjoyable, an IronMatik ironing board will be a delightful addition to your sewing space and your creativity.
