Lanterns of Hope Quilt-A-Long

Lanterns of Hope is a beginner-friendly, modern traditional quilt featuring a log cabin block that “deconstructs” as the lantern shape rises up across the quilt. The pattern includes four sizes (wall hanging, small throw, large throw, and bed), and it’s a perfect excuse to play with colors for ombre or transparency effects. Let’s make Lanterns of Hope together!

Lanterns of Hope is a quilt of encouragement. Originally designed while dreaming of a world without childhood cancer, the quilt has come to symbolize light in the darkness –a hope of a future where, to borrow from author Sally Lloyd-Jones, "all sad things have come untrue."

This QAL ran from April 15-June 12, 2024.

This LOH pattern comes together pretty quickly, but there are a lot of different blocks, so we’re going to take our time and make just a few each week.

Here’s the weekly topics we covered:

Supplies & Kits

As we kick off the quilt-a-long, I’m going to share some tips and tricks for choosing colors and fabrics for Lanterns of Hope, but I know that some of our shop samples are Rockstar faves, so we also put together kits. 🎉

Each kit includes yardage to make a large throw (64 x 85 inches) – the pattern, backing, and binding are sold separately.

I can’t wait to sew along with you and see all the gorgeous quilts we make!
