Supplies
1/2 yard main fabric (consider a canvas for a more durable finish)
1/2 yard secondary fabric
1 yard pompoms or other trim, cut into two (2) 18” pieces
Sewing machine in good working order, thread, pins, snips, etc
Instructions
Trim the selvedges off your fabrics, and ensure that both fabrics are the same length
On the RIGHT (pretty) side of the main fabric, pin your pompoms 1/2” from the raw edge of the short (18”) side with the poms facing toward the center of the piece of fabric (away from the raw edge). Stitch in place. Repeat on the other end with the second piece of trim.
Pin your two fabrics RIGHT sides (pretty sides) together, making sure the pompoms/ trim are on the inside
Sew all the way around the fabrics with a 1/2” seam allowance (on the short sides, stitch on the same line where you already basted the pompoms/ trim). Leave a 4-5” space on one of the long sides UNSTITCHED
Turn the table runner right side out through the gap. Make sure your corners are turned all the way out and press the table runner
Pin the gap closed with the seam allowance tucked inside the table runner, and top stitch all the way around the table runner with a 1/4” seam allowance. Top stitch with a decorative stitch if desired
Voila! You did it!
